KK Hobbycon 2009 at Citymall

...where Sabahan anime and manga lovers unite. &hearts

Not that I'm an otaku or anything but I was once upon a time, therefore I could not resist this!!!

I missed the one in Asiacity Mall last year and apparently it was awesome. I feel like subjecting one of my little sisters to cosplay as something next year! *evil laugh* This year it was held at Citymall, Kota Kinabalu which is a really good choice (less pilaks) on the 11th and 12th of December. Anyway, there were a lot of those lolita girls when I was there because there was a lolita competition going on (the horror). The little stores there sold oddball things like paper crafts, magic and illusion items, full army gear (wtf), gundams and other figurines (very expensive) among other things.

There's a little Jedi in there, somewhere...

Even the kind of people visited this place were strange. I saw a lot of mature women who dressed like teenagers (rather trashy), disturbing uncles in cosplay with big cameras as well as your average bunch of otakus... Sabah Institute of Art was involved with this event too. (Figures. I'm starting to think that they're involved in all the coolest things). Tourists were also mighty interested in this event. They get really excited over Japanese things.

The only cosplayers I recognized was L from Death Note, Naruto, Kakashi, a really odd looking Sakura and Gaara (also Naruto), the FF7 crew (I swear, there were at least 2 Cloud Strifes brandishing gigantic swords there), Li Syaoran (Cardcaptor Sakura), a Star Wars cosplayer (Obi Wan Kenobi, is that you?) and the rest I couldn't make a head or tail of who they were. At least they tried, right? Gotta admire their bravery.

Anyway, on to the important stuff! Here are pictures of some of my favourite cosplayers:

Kakashi has the hots for my sister... XD

Whoever-she-is: I AM AWESOME. BOW TO ME.

This totally takes attitude to pull off... Intense!

Vocaloid characters... From Palmeria or something. Nice pose.

Hani from Ouran High School Host Club!!!I saw her from a distance and I was like, is that..? She was skipping around with Usa-chan and was so cute, I wanted to give her a hug. Then when she met Haruhi (another Ouran cosplayer), they were beside themselves in joy and kept dancing around in circles! *dies from cuteness*

There's a lot more photos but I picked the cream of the crop, I don't have that many pics, I was there for all of two hours then I had to dash to meet some friends at Yoyo. And I apologize for my rather lacking photography skills.

After all that, I feel that, hell yeah, I'll definitely go next year! On the pretense of accompanying my sisters... Real Reason: Some of these cosplayers don't look half bad. In a weird, hair-gelly, bad wiggie kind of way. Lol!!!

Toodles! &hearts

Funniest Malaysian Names!

I laughed out loud for 10 straight minutes reading this old post at Mr. Badak's website! If you must know, I was searching for the meaning of mulau (crazy in Kadazan) because I wasn't quite sure of the meaning (I'm a poor excuse for a Kadazan), and I stumbled across this. It's not even the post itself (about an unfortunate man named Mulau bin Burit) that was the absolute funniest, it was the commenters! Teachers and government workers come across the funniest names...

Imagine being named...
Alias bin Mati
Injin A/L Bot (changed his name already...)
Penus (Oh dear.)
Labiah binti Kondong
Ignor Ingor
Blueberi anak Dewberi (This made me laugh the hardest!)

Lee Je Hoon to Belt Some Notes for Paparotti!

How cute is this piece of news? Everybody's favorite actor gone for military service, Lee Je Hoon, is acting as a gangster who wants to sing! Jang Ho (Lee Je Hoon) has a talented voice, but because of his poor family background, he became a gang member. Nevertheless, Jang Ho still likes to sing and desperately wants to become a singer. He enlists the help of Sang Jin (Han Suk Kyu) who used to be a well regarded performer in Italy, but is now a music teacher at a local high school in a small city. He's not the most passionate of teachers. Kang So Ra plays Sook Hee, a classmate who has a crush on Jang Ho.
This movie is based on the true story of Kim Ho Joong, who first appeared on Korean TV Show, Star King, on July 18, 2009. During the program, Kim Ho Joong surprised people with his vocal abilities and also made people cry because of his back ground story. He grew up as a troubled kid who joined gangs, but because of his grandmother he began to sing in earnest. Stills and the …

Gawky Poses People Do Best Forgotten

Ever seen a pose that you thought looked terrible even though the person doing it is a mega hot fiiiiiine piece of...well, you get my drift. I'm sure if I asked a guy, they would have plenty of other suggestions but here are just three that occurred to me while typing out this post.

1. The Angry Chicken Pose

E.g. Sohee from the Wonder Girls (middle girl) - BTW their new album WONDER WORLD is out! Check it out! :)

I have never seen anyone pull this off and still look attractive. (Also known as The Stomach Ache or Pelvic Thrust)

2. Woman Draped on a Car Pose

No offense to auto babe ladies everywhere, but I can never find this not tacky. It must be difficult to twist yourself in a sultry pose on a heap of metal (something I, a mere mortal, can never hope to achieve) and I'm glad that at least you're being paid for it.

3. Cutesy Asian Poses

There's a whole multitude of these but I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the like. E.g. Peace Sign (I'm totally guilty of this…
