I've been wondering why I'm such a crater of empty blog posts this month... Sure, it's mostly because I only got my Internet back recently but I fear a lot of it has to do with acute boredom. I really miss my old and new friends (The Olie gang! Hahahaha...) back in Terengganu... *sigh*

Anyway, I noticed my bangs getting longer and I didn't want to go to a trip to the hairdresser's just for my bangs so I snipped a bit off myself... Lol! (CHEAPSKATE!) I'm trying real hard not to die my hair again because I'm still sticking to my resolution to be dye free by the end of this year. I guess my hair's suffered enough abuse the last couple of years, what with the dying and perming.

Problem is people think I look like a kid now with my current 'do. My youngest sis, Vanna, thinks I look dandy. But I would not place a lot of faith in the opinion of a 13 year old. Ignore the crap behind me. That's the corner of my room where I dump all my what-nots.

Meant to blog about this the other day. It was really unexpected and I was like Whoa when I got something from Stesen Televisyen Malaysia Bhd. Turns out that it was a consolation prize when I took part in the Galaxieblog contest for Vampire Diaries because I really wanted the VD goodie bag but I got this instead. An 8TV goodie bag wrapped up in a Suki poster. I didn't know it was a poster and I ripped a bit of her head. Oh well. Thanks anyway 8TV! :)

8TV's superhero baby mascot has a name: Pow Pow. Who knew?

I'm really looking forward to this movie. I watch almost any Korean romcom flicks as long as the movie doesn't look too cheap or 2nd-rate. This latest one called Cyrano Dating Agency is a new take on an old story. You know, the one where one not so good-looking character helps a good-looking friend to win a gorgeous someone's heart but ends up falling for him/her instead? Anyway, it's based on the play, Cyrano de Bergerac.

Lee Min Jung is absolutely one of my fave actresses around. She's just so...naturally pretty. Uhm Tae Woong is so-so for me, he takes on the Cyrano character and Daniel Choi is the stud who needs dating help. Oh and Park Shin Hye is also in this one as Cupid or something. The male cast isn't thrilling me at the moment, would have so loved Jung Kyung Ho as Cyrano but then it has distinct possibilities.

Till saner days! :D

What Doesn't Kill You...

Best. Cartoon. Ever.

It's here again. One of those days.

The kind of day where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, went off to the world and did something you regret (which is so out of character for you). It's unbelievable how many lemons the world can throw at you but we get through it by putting on a brave face because, heck, we all still want to live, right? The S word is for weak-minded people to make room for our densely over-populated planet.

Well, if you can call getting honked at twice in the space of half an hour a bad day. I am just a BAD driver. Sorry to all the angry buggers I cut at roundabouts. I have yet to learn how the most effective way to use a roundabout, which is very inconvenient for me and for you.

As my dad would say, you can't please everyone.

Possible Solutions for a Bad Day

1. Take a nap. Chances are, you're not focusing properly because of a lack of sleep. Some people are superhuman, they can deal with longer waking hours, but they are NOT YOU.

2. Retail therapy. It works! (Proven yesterday!)

3. Talk to someone. Everybody needs that someone to vent to. In my case, it's certain friends and my sisters.

4. Take a walk alone for a breather. Some people need their me time.

5. Smile even though you don't feel like it. Smiling actually makes you feel better because it releases endorphins. Simon says it's true. :P

The art of cooking mystifies me still, I think I have very nearly burnt my mother's soup this morning. I'm surprised how my sisters can still stomach my food. Beggars can't be choosers. :D

P.S. The Invader Zim photo is just for kicks. Because I can!

This video mesmerizes me. Directed by the same guy who did Maroon 5's Misery video (I'm seeing a pattern here), Enrique (my baby!)'s Hero and Dido's White Flag (one of my favorite music videos).

Someone mentioned that this is the best acting Megan Fox has done in her career thus far. I am inclined to agree with them. *smirk* The fire! The hair! The lights! Of course, not disregarding its very important message that domestic violence in a relationship is an ugly cycle that repeats itself and will only get worse the longer you hold on...

K-drama Whirl of Spooniness

Potentially good dramas worth watching this season seem to be My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (Just aired) and Playful Kiss which will be airing this September. Now that I'm back on the Net again, I'm not gonna let this opportunity slip away! I've just realized that I'm quite behind in everything, dropped two dramas because I wanted to watch new ones (I usually get bored in the middle so if I finish a drama, it's either I have plenty of time or the story is what I would call Engaging.)

Anyway, here's a short round-up of my current drama-to-watch list:

Bread, Love and Dreams [KBS]: Epic, just epic. Love all the baking bits, it can be quite funny and Yoon Si Yun is amusing to watch. Touted as a national drama with ratings over 40%, this is much better than East of Eden in vast degrees. The downside is that, boy, do they pile on the drama. Can't help noticing that Ma Jun (the Kang Dong Won clone) walks a little gay (haha!) and I adore Mi Sun to bits (but it looks like Eugene is the heroine of the story...again.)

My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox [SBS]: Currently airing now, I've only heard good things about it. Though I am a little preoccupied with Bread, Love and Dreams which is airing at the same time slot in South Korea. If only I liked Shim Min Ah more. But Lee Seung Ki has always been winsome enough for me! :)

Mischievous Kiss [MBC] : A remake of the Taiwanese hit drama (It Started with a Kiss) adapted from the Japanese manga Itazura Na Kiss. Starring newcomer Jung So Min, the only thing keeping me from being invested in this li'l piece of sunshine is the casting of Kim Hyun Joong (BOF fame, SS501 popstar, bla bla bla) as the lead. The man is a pretty statue. Though I must say his short stint in Gummy's As A Man music video does possess a glimmer of potential but nevertheless, lackluster. He kind of reminds me of Ju Ji Hoon in his Goong days.

That's all I can manage for now. Having lappie problems and it's driving me bonkers. Please Goddess of the Ancient Lappie, last at least another year!

August Happenings

August 7th, 2010: Let it be known that on this day, Vanessa made her maiden trip to Shenanigan's, KK at the ripe age of 21. I'll be 22 in 21 more days, a minor detail... *sweeps away from mind* My delightful Auntie Nana, bless her merry soul, took me on a night out after the Sabah Rugby annual dinner (whyyy was I there?) at Pan Pac... Crappy camera pic below:

I would have to say that the highlight of the night was when my sis and I got seated with the La Salle secondary school rugby team and they were like, "Sooo, you're both from Konven?" *headslam* But it was fun being called Kakak (older sister) the whole night, puahahahhaha....

After that we went on to Rhumba at Le Meridien Hotel but boy, has it changed since I was last there. It used to be salsa and couples dancing but instead we got kids thumping to ear-splitting beats and dancing girls. So we moved on to Shenny's after an hour. Got introduced to a KK hiphop artist, Atama who's somehow related to me (no idea how but cool!).

Yesterday, I watched Avatar: The Last Airbender yesterday, which was awful, but I loved the fighting scenes only and the Earthbenders. Dev Patel and the Moon Princess (so pretty!) were my favourite characters there, the rest had some of the most awful dialogue and acting scenes, heaven forbid I should see another Twilight actor in another movie. Please keep M. Night Syamalan from doing anymore close-up shots during conversations. Some of us actually like to take in the sights and not stare directly into the Avatar's flaring nostrils. This movie is probably as bad as Dragonball. So so so wrong.

On the other hand, everyone has been telling me to distraction about how awesome Inception is. Heard Salt was good too but I'm more drawn to the The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I'll try to blog properly next time when I have a proper Internet connection. One good thing about this dry spell of no phone and no Internet is that at least I still have KBSWorld and I can still watch I Am Sam (aka I'm Your Teacher) and Baker King, Kim Tak Gu (aka Bread Love and Dreams). Yoon Si Yoon is a major cutie! Have temporarily dropped the Taiwanese drama, P.S. Man, after dad made pointed remarks about the lead actor's cotton candy hair (it truly is NOT his look) and Coffee House (got bored).

Till better days! =D
